Local Strategic Partnerships

The Government requires local authorities to prepare ‘community strategies’, to promote the economic, social and environmental well-being of their area and its communities. Local Strategic Partnerships (LSPs) have been set up to produce these important documents. LSPs vary in form and size but all bring together key local agencies from the public, private and voluntary sectors. The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority is represented on all three district partnerships, Richmondshire, Craven and South Lakeland. These meet regularly to monitor progress, review priorities and consider allocation of resources. We have welcomed this opportunity to collaborate with partners in tackling local issues.

The strategies can be viewed on the three local authority websites:

Public Consultation in Richmondshire

The Richmondshire Local Strategic Partnership has formed a Consultation Task Group to oversee the establishment of a new Joint Residents’ Panel made up of 800 people from across Richmondshire (600 demographically representative residents, 100 young people and 100 from diverse minority groups).  Consultation with the Panel has commenced and a series of questionnaires have been drawn up by the Task Group relating to each of the five themes of the Community Strategy, which include issues relating to the work of the National Park Authority such as biodiversity, heritage, landscape and sustainable development.

Results from three of the questionnaires conducted during 2005 relating to the following topics:

  • Quality Services
  • Earning and Learning
  • How we Live Now

can be viewed on the relevant section of Richmondshire District Council's website (opens in new window).
