Welcome to the Yorkshire Dales National Park Management Plan

The Yorkshire Dales Management Plan The Yorkshire Dales: Today and Tomorrow was published in 2000 following wide consultation. Seven years on, the Management Plan has been updated to take account of changing circumstances, changing ways of working and some new challenges.  Through its aims and objectives for the period 2007 – 2012 it sets out an ambitious vision for the future of the National Park, and how the statutory national park purposes and duty will be delivered.

On this website you can find out what progress is being made towards achieving the Plan’s objectives.

Click on any of the seven themes listed on the left hand menu for a list of related objectives.  By selecting and clicking on an objective you’ll then be able to view progress to date.  A colour coded assessment is also given of whether progress is on course to meet the objective.

Green means that the objective has been achieved or is on course.

The information on progress is updated regularly, and shows the latest available data.

Progress is being monitored by a small steering group of the main bodies responsible for funding the delivery of the objectives set out in the Plan. As well as publishing reports on progress, the group will identify areas where greater action is needed or where there are opportunities for the various bodies to work together more effectively.
